Service overview

Start with the question.
Build the right next step.

Every farm, animal and situation is different. These sections provide a useful starting point; the veterinarian will tailor recommendations to the case in front of us.

01What this service covers

Investigation of illness affecting more than one bird and practical measures to reduce entry and spread of disease, including isolation, new-bird quarantine, cleaning, equipment and footwear, wild-bird exposure, pest control and appropriate sampling.

02When to contact us

Call promptly for multiple sick birds, sudden or unexplained deaths, a sharp drop in feed or egg production, swelling or purple discolouration of the head, respiratory distress, diarrhea or neurologic signs. These patterns can require provincial or federal disease guidance.

03What to expect

Keep affected birds separate and avoid moving birds, eggs or equipment until advised. We take a flock-level history, determine safe examination and sampling steps, discuss immediate biosecurity and contact animal-health authorities when a reportable disease is suspected.
