Start with the question.
Build the right next step.
Every farm, animal and situation is different. These sections provide a useful starting point; the veterinarian will tailor recommendations to the case in front of us.
01What this service covers
Urgent care for established clients, including difficult lambing or kidding, pregnancy and postpartum problems, weak newborns, severe bloat, urinary obstruction, injury, sudden neurologic disease and rapidly declining animals.
02When to contact us
Call promptly when active labour is not progressing, presentation is abnormal, a dam is exhausted or in distress, a newborn is cold or unable to nurse, an animal cannot urinate, breathing is difficult, bleeding is uncontrolled or the animal goes down.
03What to expect
We triage by phone and may give immediate warming, handling or transport instructions. The veterinarian assesses the animal and discusses realistic treatment, surgery, referral and welfare options; some emergencies also trigger recommendations for the flock or herd.
